Beyond Information Overload: Clear Thinking for Tax and Estate Decisions

Updated: Jan 12

Starting a Conversation About Planning That Matters

I work at the intersection of two critical areas: individual income tax planning through Jefferson Tax (a Florida CPA firm) and estate planning through Jefferson Law (a Florida law firm). This dual practice gives me a unique vantage point—I see how tax and estate considerations interconnect, how decisions in one area ripple into the other, and where clients need the most clarity.

What I've learned over the years is this: most people don't lack access to information. They're drowning in it. What they need is clear thinking about complex decisions.

That's why I'm starting this blog.

What to Expect

Every week, I'll publish content focused on helping you think more clearly about tax and estate planning:

  • Clarifications that correct common misunderstandings

  • Decision frameworks for evaluating real tradeoffs

  • Professional insights earned through practice, not theory

  • Mental models that make complex topics more approachable

  • Thoughtful perspectives on judgment and ethics in the field

I'm not here to give hot takes on the news cycle or provide DIY instructions. This isn't about positioning myself as the hero of case studies or telling war stories.

Instead, I want to share the kind of thinking that genuinely helps people—whether you're a high-net-worth individual seeking sophisticated strategies or someone just starting to understand what these areas of planning really mean.

Who This Is For

If you're trying to make informed decisions about income tax strategies, trusts, business structures, or estate planning, this content is for you. I'll balance foundational concepts with technical depth, making sure both beginners and experienced planners find value.

Both of my practices are licensed and registered in Florida, so I'll reference state-specific considerations when relevant. But the principles and frameworks I discuss apply broadly across the United States.

Why Clarity Matters

Tax and estate planning aren't just technical exercises. They're about values, priorities, and protecting what matters to you. The decisions you make today ripple forward—affecting your family, your business, and your legacy.

Working across both the CPA and legal sides of planning, I've seen how integrated thinking leads to better outcomes. When your tax advisor and estate planning attorney understand how these pieces fit together, you make smarter decisions.

You deserve content that respects your intelligence, acknowledges complexity without overwhelming you, and helps you ask better questions of your advisors.

That's what I'm building here.

Let's Begin

I'll be publishing regularly, following a structured weekly cadence designed to approach planning from different angles. Some posts will challenge misconceptions. Others will help you weigh competing options. All of them will aim to make you a more informed decision-maker.

I'm glad you're here.
